Father's Log: Star Date 05202010

So last night was great, this morning was not so great. Krista was given a fairly large dose of Morphine and an Ambien last night and she was finally able to fall asleep. She slept most of the night (several hours at least). That means I also got several hours of sleep. I think a good night of sleep will help us more than anything else will at this point. The not so fun part is that we were woken up around 7 am by an in-rush of nurses. The baby's heart rate decelerated and everyone was instantly in the room trying to get him off the cord (assuming that's what caused it). Krista was immediately placed on oxygen and she was told to try several positions before the baby's heart rate finally came back up. The doctor is no longer concerned because he is happy and bouncy again. When you are monitored 24/7 things like this can happen. He probably just rolled onto his cord and when Krista moved again everything returned to normal. In other news, Krista has not made any progress dilating in the last 24 hours. We will probably be moved out to the post-partem side of the floor today. They have more comfortable beds and Krista will not have to be hooked to machines constantly. We are starting to settle in for the long haul. Krista will probably live here for several more days at least.

What an ordeal, but thankful for good care. Know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
